Original issue of Country Life magazine for October 19th 1940 featuring a main article on Old Belsay Castle in Northumberland, quoted as 'one of the finest Northern English Tower Houses', owned by Sir John Middleton. Containing a four page write up including black and white illustrations of the exterior of the castle including an illustration of a sketch by Henry Swinburne, Ca 1820 and the grounds and plans of the castle. This magazine is in very good condition with a portrait frontispiece of Captain and Mrs Richard Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe in the grounds of Elvetham Hall, Hampshire.
