A very scarce original engraved print illustrating a view of Sandon Hall in Staffordshire, the Seat of Lady Gerard, Baroness Gerard of Gerards Bromley. Published in 1686 for Robert Plot. Drawn and engraved by Michael Burghers, titled and with coat of arms above. Illustration size 26 x 30cm (with centre fold, as were issued). Very good condition. A fine example from a very early and rare series of prints.
Michael Burghers (c. 1653-1727) was a Dutch line engraver born in Amsterdam and lived in Oxford, England from 1673. He was commissioned by the aristocracy to create estate plans, illustrations of country houses and maps.
