Westerham

An antique miniature hand coloured aquatint engraved print of Westerham in Kent , from John Hassell's Picturesque Rides and Walks, with excursions by Water, thirty miles round the British Metropolis, Illustrated in a series of engravings. Published 1816-1818. Drawn by John Hassell and engraved by D. Havell. Titled and dated 1817. A fine miniature series with beautiful original fine hand colouring. Image size approx 9 x 6 cm with plate mark and good margins. Excellent condition. Scarce.

John Hassell (c. 1767-1825) lived in London and was an aquatint engraver of small topographical views and bookplates. He was also a watercolour landscape painter and author of many books on water colour paintings and drawings.
